The 7 Policies

An ethical framework for self-governance in the age of AI.

Designed by Mo Hasan over nearly 30 years of examining human performance, the 7 Policies are the ethical foundation of The Hasan Method™: a framework for sane, responsible, and sustainable leadership.

What a policy is

A policy here is not a rule made to punish bad behavior. It is a rule, guideline, modality, or agreement designed to bring out good behavior. And these are policies for self-governance: the only person who adopts them is you, the only person who enforces them is you, and the only person who course-corrects when you drift is you. They are designed to sit in harmony with your personal, spiritual, or religious beliefs.

Absolute freedom is chaos. Absolute control is a prison. Free minds need self-governance to operate at optimal conditions.

The seven policies

1

Remembering who I am

I am the spirit, possessing and controlling a body, experiencing contiguous emotional states, and utilizing an intelligence I call the mind. I am the driver, not the car. The ghost in the machine.

2

It's only true, if it's true for me

What is true is true today, was true a thousand years ago, and will be true a thousand years from now. I am the only being qualified to recognize the truth for myself. I will not submit to group-think. I will look and examine for myself.

3

My standard for understanding

My minimum standard is that I can instantly produce a dictionary-quality definition of every word, term, and symbol I communicate in. With expanded understanding, I could write books and give lectures on them.

4

My guiding principle for morality

I measure my actions as pro-survival or counter-survival on a gradient scale across all the dynamics of life: myself, my family, my groups, all mankind, the animal kingdom, the physical universe, the spiritual universe, and the infinite. I strive always for the most pro-survival action across them all.

5

I am, you are, we are... erroneous

I make mistakes, you make mistakes, we make mistakes, and they are among the greatest learning experiences. I take responsibility instead of condemning myself, I work iteratively (create, deliver, gather feedback, improve), and I extend compassion to the mistakes of others.

6

My participation in economic exchange

Economics is the study of particle flow; exchange is the flow between entities. There are four levels: criminal, partial, fair, and exchange in abundance. I choose to exchange in abundance with those I exchange with. Fair exchange is an indicator that I am in a degraded condition.

7

Just because I can, doesn't mean I should

My life will be filled with an abundance of opportunities. The fact that I can do a thing does not mean I should. I align my actions with my values, intentions, understandings, truths, policies, and goals, with singular focus and pan-determination.

Human practices, not software rules

The 7 Policies are practiced by people, not enforced by code. Intupower builds software that makes ethical operation workable, through human review, reversibility, audit trails, and guardrails, but the ethics belong to the people who use it. That boundary is deliberate, and it is why the platform exists.
