Intupower and Mercosur: an AI education partnership for Latin America

Intupower and the Mercosur Chamber of Commerce signed a partnership in Medellin to bring ethical AI education across Latin America, in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

On March 25, 2025, in Medellin, Colombia, Intupower and the Mercosur Chamber of Commerce signed a partnership to broaden access to artificial intelligence education across Latin America. The goal, stated plainly: a region that adopts AI ethically, on its own terms, and leads with it.

Eight programs, three languages

The partnership introduces eight programs delivered in English, Spanish, and Portuguese under the LATAM 4.0 movement. They run on The Hasan Method™, finalized by 2023 and built so that people and organizations can put AI to work without programming knowledge.

“This alliance represents a historic milestone to strengthen Mercosur and catalyze a new era of prosperity,” said Dr. Octavio Velez Mejia, the Colombian Director of the Mercosur Chamber of Commerce. “Access to methodologies like The Hasan Method™ will allow us to develop solutions adapted to our specific needs within an ethical framework.”

Colombia first

The initial phase focuses on Colombia, drawing on projects such as Digital Centers, the Power School Program, Power Centers, and Community Zones for Peace. These programs serve as proving grounds for the partnership's approach before it expands throughout Latin America.

Mo Hasan, Founder and CEO of Intupower, shared his personal connection to the mission: “As someone who emigrated from Bangladesh to the United States, I have experienced the transformative power of education and technology. Our vision of ethical, responsible, and accessible AI will lay the foundation for regional technological leadership, fulfilling our mission of democratizing access to AI for everyone.”

The commitments

The partnership carries specific commitments:

  • Regional economic leadership: positioning Mercosur as a center for AI innovation and development on the global stage.
  • Reduction of economic migration: creating high-value local jobs to retain talent within the region.
  • Cross-border integration: establishing new digital connectivity between member countries.
  • Digital sovereignty: developing local technological capabilities aligned with regional values and priorities.
  • Social cohesion: ensuring an equitable distribution of technological benefits across diverse communities.
  • Environmental leadership: applying AI to address climate challenges specific to Latin America.

The 7 Policies govern the work

The Policies Institute, co-founded by Mo Hasan, provides the ethical framework for the initiatives developed through this collaboration. The 7 Policies serve as a guide for all implementations, so that AI technology is used for the benefit of society while respecting local cultural values and promoting digital equity.

“This is not simply about importing Silicon Valley models,” explained Dr. Velez Mejia. “We are building something authentically Latin American: an AI vision that reflects our values, addresses our specific needs, and creates prosperity while strengthening our cultural fabric.”

A new educational ecosystem

The programs run from childhood AI literacy to executive education:

  • Foundational AI literacy programs, introducing AI concepts to children and young adults.
  • Professional development courses, equipping working professionals with practical AI skills.
  • Executive education programs, preparing business leaders to implement AI strategies.
  • Community training initiatives, expanding AI literacy in underserved communities.
  • Specialized technical training, developing advanced AI practitioners.
  • Policy and governance education, preparing public officials for AI regulation and oversight.
  • Ethical AI implementation workshops, supporting responsible AI deployment.
  • Cross-border collaboration programs, fostering regional cooperation in AI development.
