It is tempting to treat AI ethics as a checkbox, or a policy document that sits in a drawer. In practice, ethics is judgment applied before and during the work, by people. The 7 Policies are a framework for that self-governance, grounding AI use in human values rather than capability alone.
What this asks of leaders
Leading well in the age of AI is less about mastering the technology and more about setting the terms for how it is used. That means being clear about what the organization will and will not do, keeping a person accountable for outcomes, and making it safe to question an answer no matter how fluent it sounds.
