Maximizing AI in management: a new paradigm for business leaders

Managing people and managing AI are not the same discipline. AI does not tire, and it thrives on iteration. Leading it well means adapting the approach.

The rise of artificial intelligence is both a challenge and an opportunity for managers and executives. Traditional management practices, effective with human teams, do not automatically get the most out of AI. Getting the most out of it starts with understanding how different it is, and reshaping the approach to match.

Consider a manager who assigns a task to an employee who does it exceptionally well. With people, acknowledging the effort and moving on is good practice. With AI, that same instinct leaves value on the table. Unlike a person, an AI system does not tire or lose motivation. It handles continuous challenge and iteration. A manager who understands this can keep pushing the system further, reaching levels of output and refinement that a single pass would never surface.

That shift asks leaders to separate two things they usually hold together. The care and acknowledgment that a human team needs are not what an AI system needs; with AI, the useful posture is steady iteration and refinement. By continuing to challenge the tool, business leaders can move their work toward higher quality and efficiency.

This is not about abandoning human values. It is about recognizing what makes AI different and adjusting technique accordingly. Done well, it lets managers and executives work alongside AI rather than around it, and get results that neither people nor tools would reach on their own.
